Zero Co - plastic waste collected from the ocean
Zero Co is a company that offer personal-care and home-cleaning products direct to your door, minus all the single-use plastic. Their bottles are made from plastic waste collected from the ocean.
For Zero Co so far, the use of their refill pouches has equated to 256,000 water bottle’s worth of plastic saved. By the end of 2022 Zero Co aim to remove a total of 1.5 MILLION water bottles worth of rubbish from the ocean
Velex Eco was excited to discover Zero Co. Whilst they are cutting down plastic waste, are their products any good? So we made an order to test a few select products.
How they work
Zero Co works via a simple 4 step process: customers order, they deliver, the customers return, they refill.
It’s just like the milkman…reimagined.
Inside your 1st Zero Co box you’ll find:
1) A set of dispensers made from plastic waste pulled from the ocean
2) A set of refill pouches made from recycled plastic diverted from landfill
3) A reply-paid postage satchel
All you have to do is empty the contents of the refill pouches into the dispensers, pop the empty pouches in the reply-paid satchel and send them back. They then clean, refill and reuse the pouches.
Their refill system replaces single-use with forever-use.
This model effectively stops the production of new plastic and cleans up the plastic waste in our oceans.
Velex Eco ordered a few products to try

Dishwashing liquid
The product is plant based and planet friendly. We found the dishwashing liquid works just fine. It is comparable to any of the major brands we normally use.

Bodywash
The product is plant based and planet friendly. As a family of 4, we tend to go through bodywash very quickly. The product works well for us, especially considering we have 2 teenage boys.
Deodorant
The product is an all natural no chemical roll on deodorant. We were skeptical at first but we have pleasantly surprised. One application lasted us the entire day, even with moderate exercise. The fragrance is unisex and smells great.
Bathroom and shower cleaner
The product is plant based and planet friendly. It smells a lot nicer than other cleaners. It works well on all bathroom surfaces.
The verdict
For me, Zero Co has been a great option for our personal care and home cleaning products. We picked a few products to trial. We will be looking to sign up for a regular scheduled order so that we have an ongoing stock (much like our “who gives a crap” order).
If we were to have our time over, we would pick the "everything starter pack”. Now we will have to buy the missing products individually..
